Refilling a Prescription on Hold

When a patient brings a prescription to the pharmacy that is not immediately needed, it is placed on hold and all information is logged into Nexxsys. When they need the medication, all information is already entered and the prescription can simply be filled.

To refill a prescription on hold:

  1. Search for and select the patient.
  2. Select the Profile tab.
  3. Select the prescription(s) with a status of Hold that need to be filled.
  4. Select Refill.

    The Ready Time window appears.
  5. Enter the appropriate Ready Time.
  6. Select OK. The Rx Detail window opens.
  7. Review the Last Fill date to ensure the prescription is due for refill.
    • If there is no date beside Last Fill, the prescription has never been dispensed to the patient.

    Note: If more information is required to determine if the prescription is due, select Rx > Audit History to review the Audit History of the prescription.

  8. Select Fill to process the prescription.
    • If attachments were added to the prescription when if was placed on Hold, a prompt will ask if the attachments should be printed. Select Yes to print the attachments.
